12.6 Operations App
Purpose
To provide operational guidance regarding the use of the Operations App for patrol operations, incident recording and operational reporting.
Overview
The Operations App is a key operational system used by SLS services to support patrol operations, incident recording and operational reporting.
SLS services:
Must use the Operations App to record regular patrol functions, including sign on, sign off, patrol status and vehicle availability.
Must use the Operations App to record incidents.
May use Operations App functionality to support IRB operational logging requirements.
Must prioritise the use of the Operations App during rostered patrol operations.
Where water cover is occurring and a regular patrol is rostered, the Operations App must be used by the patrol as the primary patrol reporting system.
Operational information entered into the Operations App should be accurate, timely and completed as soon as reasonably practicable.
Information entered into the Operations App may be monitored by the State Operations Centre (SOC) and other SLS services to support operational awareness, incident coordination and service delivery.
Essential operational information must still be communicated to the SOC by radio or phone where required.
Photo of the Day
The Photo of the Day must show the beach conditions and will automatically be added to Beachsafe.
The photo should support public beach safety awareness and should not include inappropriate content, identifiable patient information or sensitive incident material.
The requirement to complete the Photo of the Day as part of patrol reporting is also detailed in SOP 13.1 – Patrol Reporting.
Business Continuity
Where the Operations App is unavailable, patrol operations should continue using approved contingency arrangements, such as a paper log.
Records must be entered retrospectively into the Operations App as soon as reasonably practicable once access is restored.
The generated image includes the QR code, the SLSSA logo, and the SOP name underneath. The SOP name can be cropped out if only the QR code is required.
